Many Uses for Marble Cutting Board

If you already have a marble cutting board then you are ahead of the game, but wait once you read this article you may want to get more.

Did you know that if you use your cutting board for meats or poultry and then cut fruits or vegetables on the same cutting board that you may end up having cross contamination? If you are not clear on what cross contamination is, in a nutshell it is when a harmful substance such as bacteria is transferred from one item to the next then eaten. This is true if your cutting board is not thoroughly cleaned. At times you may not even see any residue leaving you with a false sense that everything is fine.

When rushing to prepare meals many of us simply wipe the marble cutting board off and continue on. Well this is not a good practice. Yes it takes a little more time so you may want to get another cutting board in a different color so you can keep the meats and vegetables separated when you are preparing meals.

Many people love cheese and crackers accompanied with a fruit like grapes or apples so you may want a smaller marble cutting board for this. Plus if you are preparing a meal with the other two cutting boards you don’t want to just put it all on a plate.

Now when your meal is finished and ready to be served, you don’t want to put a hot pot or dish directly on a table, well a marble cutting board can also be used as a trivet. Besides looking nice, everyone knows that the dish is hot and will know not to touch it plus it protects your table.

Here is yet another use. Marble is cool to the touch so if you like to make pastry or dough you will find a marble cutting board a pleasure to use. Handling your pastry or dough is a breeze when you have a cool surface since there is little to no sticking to the board. It is also a lot easier to clean than other types of cutting boards too.
